Poloniny National Park was declared 1.10.1997 on an area of 29 805 ha with a protection zone of 10 973 ha. There is the largest forest concentration in Slovakia. To date, there are 6 nature reserves declared. It is the least populated national park in Slovakia. Not one inhabitant lives in its own territory.
In winter, skiing lovers can enjoy day and night skiing in Chlmec near Humenne, or in Danna near Medzilaborce, but also in Parihuzovce near Snina. As for cross-country skiing, there are nice terrains right in the urban area of Adidoviec and cross-country skiing can be fastened at the pension.
